Below you can find out what it was like at our camp during the first week of summer vacation for kids and teens. But the best thing in advance: it will take place again from 09.08. – 13.08.2021!!!!!

On 05 July it was finally time again: the starting signal for our legendary Krav Maga Crash Camp for children and young people from about 5 years to 17 years fell – due to the no longer required, but desired by us quick tests for all participants – with a short delay around 10:00.

Here the participants, some of whom had actually sneaked in even at 4 years old ;-), were welcomed by a top-class Krav Maga Kids trainer team led by KRAVolution Krav Maga Institute Lead Instructor and book author Carsten Draheim.

The two main trainers of the camp, Patrick Coneé from the Krav Maga Institute Cologne and KRAVolution trainer and educator as well as book author on the subject of children’s training Markus von Hauff from Hamburg, took over the training of the children, who were divided into the three age groups “Kiddies” (4 to 7 years), “Kids” (8 to 11 years) and “Teenagers” (12 years and older). The two were assisted by up to 12 assistant and prospective kids trainers, Markus von Hauff was additionally accompanied by two other trainers from Munich and Stuttgart.

For the kiddies we designed the course very playful, but nevertheless there were also many challenges for them to learn in the context of self-assertion and role-playing games. What do you do when you are approached by strangers or even pulled away? Our trainers revealed their acting talent here, because it is important that the children recognize dangerous situations as such in a playful way so that they do not develop a fear of them.

In the film you see the “singing Krav Maga instructor”: in the modern self-defense training for small children from about 4 years, the trainer playfully teaches a serious assault and then practices it just as playfully with the little ones. The children are constantly immersed in a funny story – in this case a Punch and Judy show – and thus do not develop any fears, but feel well prepared for what could actually happen to them in life.

For the older children, team training and competitions took place to prepare them for the final testing: proper falling, kicking, hitting, but also self-assertion and moral courage were the top priorities here.

All participants had the chance at the end to change the “white belt”, which the kids had received in the form of a patch (Velcro patch) at the beginning of the camp together with their Krav Maga uniform for children (pants and T-shirt in the KRAVolution Krav Maga dress code) from the trainers, into the first “belt” in Krav Maga, the white-yellow patch!

The motto here: strong children and the clear definition of self.trust! You do it yourself, not dad or mom. You can make mistakes, but learn from them! Trust yourself and do it yourself! All participants are equal in the camp, no matter if they are children of inclusion or children with disabilities, here everyone sticks together and only in the team everyone is strong together.

For the teenagers there was a lot of scenario training outside the mat. For example, we trained with them on and in the car to show them how to get out of a car seat as quickly as possible in the event of an assault or how best not to get pulled into a car in the first place.

Again, it was about moral courage as a team, about standing up not only for oneself but also for others, getting involved, not just watching.

We all know that not only adults but also children sit too much nowadays. In our Krav Maga training, teens and kids move all day long. They sweat, laugh, develop themselves and their self-confidence and come home balanced but above all safe!
