Day 4, level testing… Mood: fuckyoufuckmewhyamidoingthisagain?
As usual for me, a lot of anxiety / wannathrowup & my trainingspartner Ed from Bristol/UK doesn’t participate in testing, which sucks a lot.
Well, heck, what could go wrong? Probably just someone meticuolus as examiner, and… Avi Moyal as examiner for P4/5 group, aww SHOOT.
- Main goal: do not throw up on Avis shoes
- Second: finish this damn test at all
- Third: get feedback „from the source“
- Very optional fourth: pass
Marcus is giving the P3 group his personal love and they’re trying to break the world record in getups instead of doing techniques, from what i can see in short breaks while drying my face and getting a sip of water.
I won’t go into details, as i wasn’t really concerned with „passing“ at all, i was a bit relaxed doing the techniques and more focused on breathing and keeping calm. Of course i had my own set of „what did you just do, Andreas?“ moments, but i was mostly afraid of the fighting & fitness parts of the test. (Which have been rounds of 1-1,5-minute-long 3vs1 armed zombies (knife, stick, shield) + 3vs1 pad workout (shielded zombies) + slow-light fight over 3 rounds, rounding up with 75 pushups, 150 situps, 20 burpees)
Feeling: i dont fucking care anymore about results.
After a while the iPad is done calculating and Avi starts to give detailed feedback to each of the eight paricipants in teh testing group. Kinda nice when he mentions a situation in the stress drill were you itself where thinking: WTF are you doing? „Oh, by the way, you have 92%, congratulations to P4.“
After a quick lunch & a shower (thanks Marcus, for letting me back into the closed hall for this!), redress for the closing ceremony while my clothes from testing are laid out on the parking lot to dry a bit. Short talk by Avi, distribution of the level certificates, followed by hugs & a big round of good-byes.
Some of the british guys take me with their taxi to the train station & together we drive to Tel Aviv (Thanks a lot, Jay,Phil, Richard & Martin!) They depart on HaShalom for their hotel, i switch to another train going for jerusalem. Taxi, checkin to the hotel, food, gute Nacht.
